ENTRENCHED 凝り固まった、染み付いた
- An idea, attitude, etc., is entrenched if it is difficult to change because it has existed for a long time, is strongly held, etc.
Be Careful! This expression is usually used when speaking negatively about a person or organization. - entrenched は、考えや態度などが、長い間続いていたり、堅持されていたりするため、変えることが難しい、という意味です。
注意:この表現は通常、人や組織のことを否定的に表すときに使います。
- The company is entrenched in the old ways of doing things and doesn't trust innovation or risk-taking.
- The ideas of the founder are so deeply entrenched that no one dares to question them.
- The glorification of youth and beauty has become entrenched in popular culture over the years.
- There are now such entrenched disagreements between political parties that neither side is willing even to consider compromise.
