BALANCE (the books) (帳簿などの)帳尻を合わせる、残高
- To balance (verb) the books, an account, a budget, etc., is to make sure that the amount of money you spend is less than or equal to the amount you make or have.
A balance (noun) is the amount of money you have left in a bank account, the amount you have left to pay, etc. - 動詞の balance は、帳簿や勘定、予算などにおいて、支出の金額が収入の金額や保有している金額より少ないか、同じになるようにする、という意味です。
名詞の balance は、銀行口座に預けている金額や、支払いが残っている金額などのことです。
- Expenses are getting way out of hand. We need to come up with some ways to reduce overhead so we can balance the books.
