UNDERGRADUATE / GRADUATE STUDENT

Explanation

  • An undergraduate is a college or university student who is earning a bachelor's degree (= BA, BS, etc.).

A graduate STUDENT is a university student who is earning an advanced degree.

The words undergraduate and graduate are often used before nouns in expressions such as “undergraduate education”, “graduate school”, and “graduate studies”.

Be Careful! We do NOT use the word “graduate” alone to mean graduate student.
