Explanation

  • A sidewalk is a path with a hard surface for people to walk on that is along, and slightly higher than, a road.

    Be Careful! If a path is NOT higher than the road, but only separated from the road by a painted line, we usually do NOT call it a sidewalk.
  • sidewalk とは、人が歩くために舗装された道で、車道に沿っていて、車道より少し高くなっているところ、つまり、歩道のことです。

    注意:歩く部分が車道よりも高くなっておらず、地面に描かれた線だけで車道と分けてある場合は、通常 sidewalk とは呼びません。
