Here's an interesting expression. Note how the word “go” is used as a noun rather than a verb!
MAKE A GO OF 成功させる
- To make a go of a business, an idea, etc., is to make it succeed.
- 仕事やアイディアなどについて make a go of と言うと、それを成功させる、という意味になります。
- a: Do you think we can make a go of it?
b: We can do anything we set our minds to (= decide to work hard at). - No one thought he'd ever make a go of it as a writer, until his first novel became a best-seller.
- My ex-husband and I tried everything, but we just couldn't make a go of the marriage.
- Jack has sacrificed so much to get his franchise off the ground. He has every reason to be proud now that he's really making a go of it.
Much success to you today!
