Explanation

  • Voice mail is a computerized telephone answering system common in offices and hotels that lets callers record a message when the person they want to contact is not available.

    Be Careful! Whereas an answering machine is a piece of equipment connected to an individual phone, voice mail is a centralized system that serves the whole office, hotel, etc.
  • voice mail とは、会社やホテルによくあるコンピュータ化された電話応答システムで、連絡を取りたい相手が不在のときに、伝言を録音できるものです。

    注意： answering machine は、個々の電話に取り付けられた装置をさしますが、 voice mail は、会社やホテルなどが全体で利用する集中システムをさします。
