2009.02.16
Greetings!
A while back, we did a series on ethics in business. This week we take a look at an ethical issue that touches upon basic human rights. It's business's response to the moral imperative expressed so memorably in the United States Declaration of Independence: “All men are created equal!”
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY 機会均等
- In business, equal opportunity is the right to be judged based on your qualifications and experience rather than on the color of your skin, your religion, the country you were born in, etc.
- ビジネスにおいて equal opportunity とは、肌の色、宗教、出生国などではなく、能力や経験に基づいて評価される権利、つまり、機会均等のことです。
- Because America was seen as a land of equal opportunity, wave after wave of immigrants moved there to make new lives for themselves.
- (in a company brochure)
Our company strives to increase the diversity of its workforce and provide equal opportunity to all applicants and employees. - (TV announcement)
This program was sponsored in part by the Berlitz Educational Credit Union, an equal opportunity employer.
From one equal to another, we bid you farewell!
