2009.10.30(Review of 2004.03.19 edition)
Welcome back to another Friday WordMaster! Judging from today's edition, perhaps we've all been sitting down just a little too long this week!
(MY FOOT IS) ASLEEP
- If your foot, leg, arm, etc., is asleep, you have lost most or all feeling in it, usually because you kept it in the same position for a long time.
You can also say that a foot “falls asleep.”
Be Careful! You do NOT usually say that your foot “is sleeping.”
- a: What happened to your leg?
b: My foot's asleep. It'll be fine in a minute. - When I woke up this morning, my left arm was asleep. I couldn't even lift it.
- I was sitting on my heels for so long that both of my legs had fallen asleep.
Have a terrific weekend!
