ANCESTOR 先祖、祖先
- An ancestor is someone in your family who lived a long time ago; for example, your great-great-grandparents.
The adjective form is ancestral. - ancestor とは、例えば自分の高祖父母のように、ずっと昔に生きていた自分の一族の中の誰か、つまり、先祖、祖先のことです。
形容詞形は ancestral で、先祖(祖先)の、という意味です。
- My ancestors came to America from Italy.
- I've been spending a lot of time at the Central Library these days trying to find out more about my ancestors.
- I'm going to Scotland soon to visit the town where my father's ancestors lived.
