All anyone really needs is food, clothing, and a roof over their head ... or is it a ceiling?
CEILING / ROOF 天井/屋根
- The ceiling is the part of a room that is above you, opposite the floor.
The roof is the top surface on the outside of a house or other building. - ceiling は、部屋の上部で床と反対の面、つまり、天井のことです。
roof は、家やその他の建物の外側で、上部を覆う面、つまり、屋根のことです。
- There was a beautiful crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling in the hotel lobby.
- (while walking through a house for sale)
I really like the high ceilings and all the natural light. - a: What's that man doing on the roof?
b: He's replacing some of the tiles we lost during the typhoon. - In the summer, we often go drinking at the beer garden on the roof of the Berlitz Grand Hotel.
Have a wonderful day!
