Welcome back!
We certainly don't need to apologize for this week's WordMaster offerings. They're practical, fundamental, and easy to learn and apply! “Feeling bad or sad” never felt so good!
SORRY 残念に思って、気の毒で、すまなく思って
- To be sorry is to feel sad or bad about something unpleasant that happens.
- sorry とは、好ましくない出来事について、残念に思ったり、気の毒に思ったりする状態をさします。
- (on a crowded train)
a: Ow! You just stepped on my foot!
b: Oh, sorry! - Thank you for doing this for me. I'm sorry about all the trouble.
- I'm sorry I'm late.
- (assistant entering manager's office)
I'm sorry to bother you, but I need your signature on these forms. - (two people eating at a restaurant)
a: I don't know why they had to put so much salt in this soup!
b: I'm sorry you don't like it. - We're so sorry that you aren't feeling well.
And we're sorry to be leaving so soon!
