Happy New Year! What a thrill it is for us to be starting another year of WordMaster together with you! We couldn't be more excited about the months to come. We're certain that 2009 is going to be an extremely fruitful year for you and for all our readers ... not to mention, a whole lot of fun!

Explanation

  • An adult is someone who is fully grown and is no longer a child.
  • adult は、すっかり成長して、もう子供ではない人、つまり、大人、という意味です。

  1. (someone who has just turned 20)
    a: Now that I'm an adult, the first thing I'm going to do is get drunk.
    b: Well, it sounds to me like you haven't quite grown up yet.
  2. Admission to the amusement park is 3,000 yen for adults, 1,500 yen for students, and children 5 and under get in free.
  3. (father to son)
    I'll let you borrow the car when you start behaving like a mature, responsible adult.
  4. I really enjoy talking with my Uncle Richard. He's always treated me like an adult, even when I was in high school.
