And this week's theme is ... two-word verb phrases ending with the word “off”. So let's BLAST OFF for another exciting week of Berlitz WordMaster!
SEE OFF 見送る
- To see off someone who is leaving is to go with them to the place they are leaving from (for example, an airport, train station, or your front door) and say goodbye.
- see off とは、出発する人と一緒に、出発するところ(例えば、空港や駅、玄関など)まで行って別れを告げる、つまり、見送る、という意味です。
- I just went to the airport to see Andy off. He seemed very excited about his trip.
- (to a house guest about to leave)
Let me get my coat. I'll go with you to the station and see you off. - The owners of the B&B saw us off at the door when we left.
Take care and may all your journeys begin with a warm embrace and the best wishes of a friend!
