Explanation

  • Prime time is the time of day when the largest number of people watch TV. In the U.S., prime time is a three- or four-hour period sometime between 6 and 11 p.m., depending on what part of the country you live in.

    Be Careful! In English we do NOT use the expression “golden hour” like the Japanese ゴールデンアワー to mean prime time.
  • prime time は、1日のうちでいちばん多くの人がテレビを見る時間帯のことです。アメリカでは、どの州に住んでいるかにもよりますが、普通、午後6時から11時までの間の3~4時間が該当します。

    注意:「ゴールデンアワー」は和製英語で、英語の prime time の意味はありません。

  1. The most popular TV programs are usually on during prime time. So companies pay more to have their commercials shown during those hours.
