THE NEWS ニュース
- We call a TV (or radio) program that tells people about recent important events the news.
Be careful! When talking about a particular program of this kind, we usually say THE news, NOT just “news” like the Japanese ニュース. - 最近の重大な出来事を知らせるテレビやラジオの番組のことを the news と言います。
注意：ニュース番組をさす場合、日本語では、単に「news」と言いますが、普通、英語では the を付けて THE news と言います。
- There was a really interesting report about air traffic safety on the news last night.
- Did you see the six o'clock news? They did a story on Peter's bike trip across Africa!
- I like watching the local news on channel 101. The newscasters are really funny.
