2007.06.01
Hello! We have just a few minutes left on our phone card, and there's a long line of people waiting to use this telephone, so this'll have to be our last edition of the week. Enjoy!
LET (someone) KNOW (人に)知らせる
- To let someone know something is to tell them something.
- let+(人)+know+(ものごと) は、「(人)に、(ものごと)を知らせる」という意味です。
- (on the phone)
a: He's not back from school yet.
b: Would you please let him know that I called?
a: Of course. - (on the phone)
a: Would you please tell her that I called?
b: Sure, I'll let her know. - (nurse to new patient)
You'll need to fill out this form before the doctor can see you. Let me know if you have any questions. - (auto mechanic to customer)
The repairs should be finished by early afternoon. Leave us a phone number, and we'll let you know when it's ready to be picked up.
If you've enjoyed this and other editions, than do the WordMaster a favor and let your friends know about us!
