Explanation

  • Use the expression Good luck! when you want to say 「頑張って!」 to someone before they take a test, perform in a concert, compete in a match, etc.
  • 例えば、テストを受ける前やコンサートで演奏する前、あるいは、試合で競技する前などに誰かに対して「頑張って!」と言いたいときは、 Good luck! という表現を使います。

examples

  1. a: Our final game of the regular season is tomorrow. If we win, we get to go to the prefectural championship.
    b: Good luck!
  2. (a child leaving for school)
    a: Bye Mom.
    b: Bye honey. Good luck on your test!
  3. (saying goodbye to a friend who starts a new job tomorrow)
    Good luck with the new job! I'm sure you'll do great.
