REMODEL 作り直す、改築する、リフォームする
- To remodel a room, office, house, etc. is to significantly change its appearance by adding more space; putting in new appliances or furniture; painting walls or adding new surfaces to floors; etc.
Be Careful! We do NOT use the word “reform” like the Japanese リフォーム to mean remodel. - remodel とは、部屋や事務所、家などを拡張したり、新しい電気製品や家具を設置したり、壁にペンキを塗ったり、床を張り替えたりすることによって外見を大幅に変える、つまり、作り直す、改築する、リフォームする、という意味です。
注意：日本語で言う「リフォーム」を、英語では remodel と言います。reform とは言いません。
- We're going to remodel the upstairs bathroom. We're putting in a Japanese style tub and replacing the wooden floor with tile.
- They've completely remodeled the Berlitz Burgers on the other side of the station. It's much brighter and roomier than before.
- a: What does your father do? (= What is his job?)
b: He remodels homes.
