For Life

They say that there's no such thing as a free lunch (= nothing of value is free), which means that, eventually, there's always one of these to pay!

Today's Lesson
BILL   請求書

  • A bill is a written statement of how much money is owed for goods or services.
  • bill とは、商品やサービスの対価として、どれだけの金額を支払うべきかが書かれた書面、つまり、請求書のことです。

  1. (customer to waiter, after finishing her meal)
Could I have the bill, please?
  2. Our hotel bill came to (= the amount was) $530.
  3. (checking into a hotel)
I'd like to pay my bill in advance, if that's alright.
  4. Just send the bill to my company. They'll take care of it.
  5. In my apartment building, bills for repairs are usually paid by the owner.
