Welcome back to another week of “Back to School”! In the U.S., this is the time of year for back-to-school sales - sales on school supplies and kids' clothes. So children all over the country come to school with fresh new pencils and notebooks and fresh new clothes, all ready to start a fresh new year.

GRADE SCHOOL / ELEMENTARY SCHOOL / PRIMARY SCHOOL 小学校
- In the United States, a grade school is a school for children from ages 6 to 12 or 14. In the two most common systems, children go to grade school for six years (before starting junior high school) or eight years (often before starting a four-year high school).
Grade school can also be called elementary school or primary school. - アメリカでは grade school は、6歳から12歳または14歳までの子供が通う学校のことをいいます。6年制(中学校に入る前)、もしくは、8年制(卒業後、4年制の高校に進学することが多い)が最も一般的です。
grade school のことを elementary school、primary school ともいいます。
- Both of my little boys are in grade school now.
- Satomi turns 6 this year. She starts grade school in April.
- Janet's daughter goes to the grade school across the street.
- My daughter was a good student in elementary school, but isn't doing very well in junior high.
- Every child should be able to read by the time they finish primary school.
