Explanation

  • To blow your nose is to force air through it in order to clear it.
  • blow your nose は、鼻づまりを解消するために、鼻から勢いよく息を出す――つまり、鼻をかむ、という意味です。

examples

  1. (a mother to her child)
    You shouldn't blow your nose in public; it's impolite.
  2. There must be a cold going around. It seemed like everyone on the train was either coughing or sneezing or blowing their nose.
  3. The child blew her nose so hard she got a nosebleed.
