What do these two tools have in common? Let's take a closer look!
RUBBER BAND / ERASER
- A rubber
band is a small ring of thin rubber used
to hold things together.
An eraser is a small piece of rubber (or sometimes plastic) used to remove pencil marks from paper.
Be Careful! The Japanese word ゴム for 'rubber' comes from the Dutch language, not English. - rubber

- Keep the bag closed with a rubber band so that the potato chips stay fresh.
- When you buy a bouquet of flowers, the stems are usually held together with a rubber band.
- The lid of the 'bento' was held on with a rubber band.
- Stretch a rubber band too far and it will break.
- Can I borrow your eraser again? I made another mistake.
- (to the
clerk at a stationery shop)
I'd like some eraser refills for a mechanical pencil, please.
