Good day! Driving can give a person a tremendous sense of freedom, but it can also be a major source of stress. That's when today's WordMaster comes in handy!
HONK (THE HORN) クラクションを鳴らす
- To honk or honk the horn of a vehicle is to cause the car to make a loud sound in order to let someone know that a situation is dangerous, to get their attention, etc.
We can also say that a horn honks.
Be careful:
We do NOT use the word “klaxon” like the Japanese クラクション to mean horn or honk.。
- (a passenger in a car after the light turns green)
Why doesn't the car in front of us go? Honk so he knows the light's changed. - I was taught that you shouldn't honk your horn unless it's an emergency.
- (talking to the police about an accident)
I heard someone honk their horn for a few seconds, and then there was a loud crash. - (to someone who lives next to a busy street)
It must be hard to sleep at night with all the horns honking outside.
Honk if you love WordMaster!
