For Life
2003.02.21

Today's cooking technique has gotten a bad rap lately. Sure, it's not the healthiest way to cook, but there are times when nothing satisfies like a meal that includes a dish or two cooked in this way.

Use at your own risk!

Today's Lesson
DEEP-FRY   揚げる

Explanation

  • To deep-fry food is to cook it in hot oil that covers it completely or nearly completely.
  • deep-fry は、食物を高温の油の中(たっぷり、または、かぶるぐらいの量)で調理する、つまり、揚げるという意味です。

examples

  1. Make sure food has been thoroughly dried before deep-frying or the oil will splatter.
  2. (instructions in a cookbook)
Dip the prawns in tempura batter and deep-fry.
  3. If the oil is not hot enough or if you cook too much food at one time, deep-fried foods will taste greasy.

We hope your weekend is filled with good friends, good times, and lots of good food!
