Explanation

  • A snowdrift is a deep pile of snow, formed by the wind.
  • snowdrift  は、雪が風によって集められて深くなったところ、つまり、雪の吹きだまりのことです。

examples

  1. Be careful of the snowdrifts today. The wind was blowing hard last night.
  2. We came back from a week in Hawaii to find 30 centimeters of snow on the ground and the front door blocked by a snowdrift a meter high.
  3. Koji hadn't been able to find his sled all winter. In the spring he found it buried in a snowdrift against the side of the house.
